EPC supports the Sustainable
Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. EPC is committed to 7 of these goals and has embedded them in its business strategy and day-to-day operations:
- Offer full and productive employment and decent work for women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value
- Protect labor rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, in particular women
- Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation
- Encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized service provider companies
- Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision making within the company
- Promote the empowerment of women
- Increase water-use efficiency through initiatives that save, recollect, treat and reuse water
- Promote energy efficiency and sustainable energy technologies
- Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning
- Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters
- Offer access for all to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services in the communities we have presence
- Provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces within our communities
- Strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage
- Share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals
